1. Is this a WYSIWYG editor?

Not while editing.

The editor is Markdown text plus line numbers, optimized for control, portability, and long-term storage. Reader-facing layout appears in preview.

The product deliberately avoids a heavy rich-text chrome in the writing surface so you can focus on what to write, not how to format the UI.

2. Why only one level of spaces? What if I want deep folders?

Deep folders often push effort into “where should this go?” instead of writing.

aNote prefers:

When you need levels, the tag tree usually covers most cases, and stays lighter than multi-level folders.

(In the UI, a space is what people often called a “folder”: one layer of scope, not stacked directories.)

3. What are line numbers for?

They support aNote’s writing style, not just layout.

With hard breaks (one idea per line) and line-oriented thinking, later editing gets easier:

That matters especially for quick captures. People often append and patch ideas rather than writing top-to-bottom like an essay. Line numbers make the note feel like a rearrangeable draft pad.

The toolbar also exposes some line-oriented commands (see in-app commands), so line numbers are part of the editing experience.

4. The phone cursor is hard to use. Any help?

Mobile text interaction is tuned for editing:

The goal is closer to mouse-like precision on a phone, with less missed taps.

You can also Share into aNote from other apps to create a note without copy-paste loops.

5. How is PDF export different from “Print to PDF”?

aNote’s PDF path uses dedicated layout, not a simple system print-to-PDF.

6. Can I print directly?

Yes.

From PDF preview you can usually send to a printer without exporting to another app first.

7. How do in-app screenshots differ from system screenshots?

In-app capture uses the Web-rendered preview, so it can cover a full page or longer content, not only the current screen.

Style customization usually goes through the render side. Saving to the system album depends on OS permissions and platform details.

8. What is Youlog.net? Do I have to register?

Youlog turns a note into a shareable web link for forwarding, public display, or further distribution.

Registration, quotas, permissions, and terms follow Youlog and the in-app flow.

9. How is “site publishing” different from a Youlog share?

aNote only integrates the basic publishing path; themes, config, wikilinks, i18n, and deeper topics are at Everkm Publish.

10. Are desktop and mobile the same workflow?

Same notes and Markdown habits. Desktop adds keyboard and overlay UX: command palette, recent notes, list navigation, shortcuts, and separate UI / editor font sizes.

11. Are Text Actions safe? What if I never configure them?

Text Actions run on the app’s action API to change text, selection, or run custom processing via preset logic actions.

They fit users who want to bottle repetitive edits, or who ask AI to draft action recipes.

Skipping them entirely is fine. For most people they are optional power tools, not a required skill.

12. Do notes auto-save? Can I recover deletes?

Yes.

Edits auto-save; leaving the editor usually flushes once more to reduce loss.

13. How many “recently opened” items? Do they sync?

About 100 locally by default; you can clear the list.

The list usually stays on-device with your drafts and may not sync; exact behavior depends on the product line and version.

14. Where do I land after quitting and relaunching?

If you quit on an editor screen, the next launch may reopen that note and restore position / UI state when possible.

If you already returned to the list, the app usually will not force another note open.

15. How do I back up or migrate notes?

Use import / export in Settings (space filters and ZIP-style packages, depending on version). Export suits backups; import suits moving to another device or bringing in an external folder.
